A little about Jacob
Jacob was born on 8/1/06 at 2:27 a.m, weighing 6 lbs., 9 oz. and 19.75 inches in length. He had a little surprise for us. He had a heart defect known as D-Transposition of the Great Arteries. Fortunately, we live close to one of the best places in the world to fix a broken heart and Jacob had his first helicopter ride at only three hours old to Duke U. Medical Center. After an echocardiogram, he was formally diagnosed with TGA, and a balloon septostomy was performed to put a hole between the atria of his heart to allow the oxygenated blood to mix with the non-oxygenated blood. After recovering for several days, he had open heart surgery - the Arterial Switch Operation on August 7, 2006 by Dr. Jaggers. Following a week's stay in the PICU and some issues with a collapsed lung, he was moved to the pediatric floor. We stayed there another 3-4 days and Jacob was released on August 16, 2006.
This blog will chronicle Jacob's day to day activities, as well as his follow ups for his heart condition. I wish I would have started it months ago, but better late than never!

Hello! It's taken me a while, but I'm finally getting back to all the people who left encouraging words for us on our son, Elijah's blog, back when he had his heart surgery in May. Thank you so much for dropping in to check on us and I apologize that it's taken me so long to get here.
It looks like your little guy is doing well and he's just cute as a button! I'm excited to read through your blog a bit more. Would you mind if I add Jacob's blog to our blogroll?
